Connecting with Others
Living with pain can make you feel isolated and alone. You might feel that no one understands. Seeking and receiving the support you need is critical to improving your quality of life.
Through peer support groups and processes, people in pain can:
- Help each other find and navigate health care and community resources
- Share personal stories of managing chronic pain
- Listen to one another and provide a supportive presence
- Decrease isolation and gain social support
Facebook – Pain BC’s Virtual Peer Support Community
Pain BC hosts a vibrant, online peer support community. Using Facebook, we connect people in pain to resources; spark conversations on important issues; post questions people in pain are wondering about; and share research and new information about managing pain.
People in Pain Network (PIPN) Peer-Led Pain Self-Management Groups
PIPN is a non-profit organization founded in 2011 by Heather Divine. Heather is a person living with persistent pain who has been working to help others in the same situation since 1990. PIPN Pain Self-Management groups currently run in a number of communities. Find a pain self-management group in your area.
