About Moving Through Pain 

Based on Pain BC’s course Gentle Movement & Relaxation, Moving Through Pain program is a free, self-paced online program for health care providers who want to support people living with pain to move with more ease.

Learners who complete Moving Through Pain will be equipped with the practical knowledge and teaching resources to support people living with pain to engage in gentle movement and relaxation as part of a supported self-management plan.

Specifically, learners will be able to:

  1. Recognize pain as a complex, subjective experience that is unique to each person.
  2. Describe the changes that take place in the nervous system when living with chronic pain and apply these concepts when supporting clients.
  3. Reflect on the goals of pain management and the importance of function versus pain reduction.
  4. Evaluate the role of movement education in pain management.
  5. Apply an integrated biopsychosocial approach to deliver movement and mindfulness exercises with people living with pain.
