Changing the way pain is understood and treated

Pain BC aims to enhance the well-being of all people living with pain through empowerment, care, education and innovation. This can't be done without changing the systems that people in pain rely on to live well. How do we do that?
We know complex problems can't be solved by one group alone -- improving the lives of people in pain requires collective action. Pain BC brings together people in pain and their families, health care providers, other non-profit organizations, government, researchers, and businesses to make significant and lasting change.
All Pain BC education programs are developed in consultation with clinical experts and people living with pain.
Pain can affect every part of life — work, school, sleep, mental health, family life, and daily routines.
As registered charity, we can offer our high-quality courses at low cost and with minimal impact on your time away from your practice or your family.

Pain BC's work wouldn't be possible without our board, staff and volunteers, including faculty, event volunteers, committee members, and patient leaders. Each member of our team provides crucial expertise, support, and connection to the community.
Our volunteer Board of Directors develops Pain BC's long-term plans, reviews significant issues, and evaluates results.
Our dedicated staff is responsible for implementing Pain BC’s strategic plan and driving action in order to improve the lives of people in pain.
Pain BC partners with other bodies to help bring our vision to reality.

Pain Canada is a multi-stakeholder national initiative supported by Pain BC, serving as the central home for the eight million people in Canada living with chronic pain.
We are mobilizing a national movement by connecting key people, organizations, ideas, and resources. Our model is unique: people with lived experience of pain are at the centre of all decision-making and priority-setting. Created in response to Health Canada’s 2021 report, An Action Plan for Pain in Canada, we build capacity and support to dramatically improve systems of care.
